* “We’re seeing a disturbing spike in the warning signals that there may be an increase in fraud by crooked dentists…Everyone needs to be concerned about dental fraud,” the coalition’s Jim Quiggle said in an on-air interview on Good Morning America on Monday. A national story about dentists who perform needless surgery on healthy teeth recounted Wilkes-Barre, Pa. convicted dentist Alireza Asgari who did jawbone grafts, tooth extractions, root canals and other surgeries his patients didn’t need. Many of the surgeries were botched, leading to infections and more surgeries to repair the damage.
