Police: Woman used dead husband’s prescription in attempt to buy Xanax
February 15, 2018, Winder, GA
A 30-year-old Winder woman was arrested Wednesday evening after she bought Xanax pills by using a prescription that had been written for her husband, who had died from a drug overdose, Athens-Clarke County police said.
A pharmacist at Hawthorne Drugs alerted police about the alleged fraud and the woman was arrested during a traffic stop on her car as after it left the pharmacy’s drive-thru window, according to police.
The woman was charged with obtaining dangerous drugs by fraud, police said.
