Florida woman, boyfriend charged with home arson

October 16, 2017, Launderdale County, FL — Officials said a Lauderdale County homeowner and her boyfriend have been indicted after being accused of trying to burn the home to collect on insurance.

Authorities said Georgeanne Rickard, 47, 8010 Lauderdale 25, Killen, and her boyfriend, Kenny Hudson, 51, 135 Woodland Road, Florence have each been charged with second-degree arson and first-degree insurance fraud.

They are charged in connection with a May 1 fire that heavily damaged a residence Rickard owner at 1640 Lauderdale 553, which is in the town of Anderson.

The charges are both Class B felonies, which are punishable by 2-20 years in prison (on each charge) if convicted.

They are both out of jail on bail — $5,000 for Hudson and $30,000 for Rickard.

Both are scheduled to be arraigned on the charges Oct. 25 by Lauderdale County Circuit Judge Gil Self.
