Dashcam catches nutty setup motorcycle crash in UK
July 17, 2017, London,
The efforts of a moped rider in the United Kingdom to get a fraudulent insurance payout have failed miserably after dashcam footage from the car he targeted showed what really happened.
In the video, the man can be seen dismounting from his bike on a quiet street, deliberately pushing it into a car, then throwing his body onto its windscreen.
An accomplice then emerges from a neighbouring house filming the aftermath of the incident, presumably so it can be used to help prove the moped rider's version of events.
However, neither of the men were prepared for the driver of the car to get out and reveal that the camera on her dashboard had been recording their pathetic attempts to get a payout from the start.
"Oh my God! What the hell are you doing?" she can be heard yelling.
"You're mad, you're absolutely mad. I've got a camera. Do you understand you're on video, you complete idiot?"
The reveal is a shock to the two men, who immediately try to cover their faces and get away from the scene as quickly as they can as the woman rings police.
The video, which is said to have been filmed on July 2, was posted on Facebook as a warning to motorists of the rise of on-road insurance scams.
The Association of British Insurers says there are approximately 2500 fake insurance claims filed each week in the UK.
It is not known whether the perpetrators were ever found.
