Consumers need to understand how much fraud is costing them and the scams that can hurt them directly, a spokesperson for the New York Alliance Against Insurance Fraud (NYAAIF) said during a television interview here last week.
Dennis Jay, who serves on the board of NYAAIF, said consumers can help reduce fraud by avoiding staged crashes, doing business with honest insurance agents and reviewing their medical bills for treatment billed but not performed.
The interview is part of an outreach campaign by NYAAIF to help educate consumers in New York about the cost and dimensions of insurance fraud.
